Gain knowledge of health and safety legislation as it applies to building and construction sites. Apply health and safety procedures under supervision for a building or construction site.

Overview

This course will give you effective training to safely enter a construction worksite.

People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of the organisation’s health and safety procedures and apply this knowledge under supervision on a building construction site.

Participants in this training will learn methods of hazard identification in accordance with the organisations' procedures, identify PPE for the worksite and describe its correct use.  Participants will also learn the skill to effectively seek out and learn the accident notification and workplace emergency procedures in line with the workplace or worksite they are entering.

This course is suitable for any person required to enter and work on a building or construction site. It offers a nationally recognised NZQA unit standard.

Students need to have 3 months of work experience in the industry prior to doing the course.

Please bring along your ID - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand health and safety procedures
  2. Identify personal protective equipment for the workplace and its correct use
  3. Identify worksite specific health and safety procedures
  4. Awareness of hazard identification relating to hazards
  5. Awareness of what to do in an emergency

Entry Criteria:

  1. All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
