Safety 'n Action and Axiom Training are an accredited mobile testing centre for the ConstructSafe system, which is owned by the Construction Safety Council.
Overview
Tier 1 Health & Safety Competency Test
ConstructSafe aims to provide industry with assurance that individuals have the knowledge and ability to keep themselves and others safe. This is achieved through a testing process of knowledge and behaviour against a framework designed and developed based upon industry needs.
Please bring along your ID - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.
Prerequisites
- Driver Licence - a valid New Zealand photo card driver licence
- Firearms licence - standard New Zealand Firearms Licence
- Passport - passport of any nationality valid and signed with a photograph of the candidate
Entry Criteria:

All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is ConstructSafe?
ConstructSafe is a way for employers to verify workers have the understanding and experience to be safe on a worksite. It is a combination of questions and a practical assessment of skills.
Is there a training course I can take prior?
Unfortunately, courses are not offered in regards to the ConstructSafe Testing. You are able, and encouraged to look at the ConstuctSafe Tier 1 Health and Safety Competency Test Framework.
What happens if I don’t pass?
If you don’t pass the first time around, you do get a second try at the test at no cost. If you do not pass a second time, you will be charged for the third attempt, but not the fourth. In short, every second test is ‘free’!
What do I get when I pass?
You will receive confirmation by email that you have completed and passed the ConstructSafe Testing. Your employer will be able to search on the ConstructSafe website that you have completed this testing almost instantly. You will also receive a card that states when the testing was completed and passed at a later date.
