If you're transporting dangerous or hazardous goods, you need a dangerous goods (D) endorsement on your driver licence. 

Overview

Dangerous goods include substances and articles that have explosive, flammable, toxic, infectious or corrosive properties. They also include containers that have held dangerous goods.

Course options include the full and renewal courses. It is recommended that a refresher is completed every five years.

Please bring along your ID - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Identify the scope of the Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods 2005
  2. Identify driver and loader responsibilities relating to the transport of dangerous goods
  3. Identify and explain documentation requirements relating to the transport of dangerous goods
  4. Identify the requirements for packages containing Dangerous Goods in Limited Quantities (DGLQ), consumer commodities, small packages, and excepted packages
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of segregation requirements and segregate dangerous goods
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of placarding requirements and placard vehicles and freight containers containing dangerous goods
  7. Identify driver actions and considerations in the event of an incident or emergency

Prerequisites:

  1. Must hold a minimum of a learner’s license NZ Class 1 licence

Entry Criteria:

  1. All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
