This course teaches the knowledge, skills, and attributes for all essential areas of the unit standards covered in this course, enabling the individual to drive a tractor effectively and safely in varied terrain.

Please bring along your ID on training day - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Describe the legal requirements for tractors and tractor users on both private property and on public roads
  2. Drive a tractor on hilly terrain
  3. Describe occupational hazards associated with tractor use
  4. Identify factors that affect tractor stability
  5. Check and service a wheel tractor and implement before use
  6. Attach an implement to a tractor
  7. Drive a wheel tractor and implement safely over flat terrain
  8. Detach an implement from a tractor

Prerequisites:

  1. Successful completion of unit standard 19044 (describe the legal requirements and occupational hazards associated with tractor use - covered in the course).
  2. No licence is required if 100% of use is on private property with no public access. Where public land is to be accessed a minimum of a full class 1 licence and registration is required.

Entry Criteria:

All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
