If you drive a special-type vehicle on the road that isn't a forklift, you must have a W, T or R endorsement on your driver licence.

This course includes theory and practical components and includes:

  1. W endorsement - vehicles that run on wheels that aren’t forklifts such as passenger vehicles, tractors, fire engines, trade vehicles or vehicle recovery service vehicles
  2. T endorsement - vehicles that run on self-laying tracks
  3. R endorsement - vehicles that run on rollers

The size weight and speed of the vehicle will be relevant to the class of licence you hold.

Please bring along your ID - We need to verify the identity of students in attendance, please bring ID with you on the day of training.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Describe a special-type wheeled vehicle and the legal requirements relating to driving the vehicle on a road
  2. Demonstrate procedures for driving a special-type wheeled vehicle safely and legally on a road
  3. Describe driving procedures and general considerations for driving a special-type wheeled vehicle safely on a road

Prerequisites:

  1. Hold a minimum of a full Class 1 licence

Entry Criteria:

All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.

      Yes, WTR training can be conducted at your workplace or, nationwide at one our training centres depending on your preference.
    • How much does WTR training cost?

      The price for WTR training is $440 per person (excluding GST), with group bookings available for $3300 (excluding GST).
    • What unit standards are included in WTR training?

      WTR training includes the following NZQA unit standards:

      • 16701: W endorsement
      • 16703: T endorsement 
      • 16702: R endorsement  
    • What happens after I complete WTR training?

      Upon successful completion, you can apply to add the W, T, or R endorsement to your driver licence through Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.
