Ensure your knowledge of operating a truck loader crane and identifying any associated hazards is up to date with the latest industry standards

This course will provide you with the skills and understanding of the requirements to safely operate a truck loader crane within the parameters outlined in the Approved Code of Practice for Cranes. This involves assessing the worksite, how to implement hazard and risk management protocols, preparation of the required documentation, and how to safely lift and place loads.

The Crane Industry recognized there was a gap in knowledge around basic slinging so introduced Unit Standard 30072 as a prerequisite covered on our Sling Regular Loads Safely Course to support more specialized training in Overhead Gantry Crane, Truck Loader Crane and Rigging and Slinging.

In accordance with the requirements to maintain Consent to Assess for the unit standards taught on this course, Safety ‘n Action had this course pre moderated and approved by our standard setting body, The Skills Organisation.

Students need to have 3 months of work experience in the industry prior to doing the course.

    Use a truck loader crane to lift and place loads

     

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the hazards associated with the operation of a truck loader crane

  2. Revise operational requirements applicable to a truck loader crane
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of truck loader crane equipment and attachments procedures for the care and use of the lifting equipment
  4. Practical exercises to Sling, lift, move, and unload or place regular loads using a truck loader crane
  5. Prepare the truck loader crane for road transport mode, stow equipment, and complete documentation
  6. Practical reinforcement of the knowledge and skills obtained during the training

Prerequisite:

  1. 30072 Demonstrate and apply knowledge of slinging regular loads safely

Entry Criteria:

  1. All students are required to have a level of written and oral English equivalent to NCEA level 1 (year 11) or IELTS 5.5 or higher, to be eligible to attend our courses. The person responsible for making bookings or authorising attendance on the course must agree to these Terms and Conditions prior to acceptance of their student(s) onto the course. Where a student does not meet our English language requirement a reader/writer must be supplied by the student or the person responsible for authorising the student’s attendance. The reader/writer cannot be another student attending the same course.
